Dual Sample/Track & Hold + VC Portamento
This versatile module packs powerful utility into one compact unit! It features two independent Sample & Hold (S&H) circuits, each with the ability to switch into Track & Hold mode. In this mode, the incoming signal is passed through normally until the Sample/Hold Gate input goes high—at which point the signal is held at its current voltage.
Complementing these is a classic Voltage-Controlled Portamento (VC Slew) circuit, ideal for smoothing the stepped voltages generated by the S&H sections. It's perfect for adding glide between notes or taming jagged modulation sources.
A creative use of the S&H circuits is "bit crushing" an incoming modulation or audio signal by clocking the sample input with an external oscillator—unlocking crunchy, lo-fi textures and rhythmic effects.
From pitch quantization to generative patching, there's plenty of sonic experimentation to explore with this module!

** 4U Modular is a term used for the format most commonly known as “Serge Format” or “Loudest Warning Format”. Out of respect for the ever growing format, 4U Modular is the easiest way to refer to it. More Specifically it refers to the panel height and mounting hole style. 4U Modular will patch up just fine with other 4U "Serge" formats such as "Random Source", but it will not mount in RS boats or Buchla Boats (or power off Buchla power for that matter). An info page about this will be added to the website soon to make this a lot more easy to understand.
